The Hold Steady played a free show in Battery Park last night. The band, made famous by playing four shows in 48 hours at 2005's SXSW, played a stripped-down acoustic set. If their acoustic set is any indication of how good their regular performances are, I'll be at Irving Plaza when they play there on October 1st.
